A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken the Frisco, Texas, community after 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed in the heart during a confrontation at a high school track event. His identical twin brother, Hunter Metcalf, witnessed the horrifying attack and held Austin in his arms as he took his final breaths.
A Senseless Confrontation Turns Deadly
According to reports, Austin, a 4.0 GPA student and MVP of his football team, was attacked after telling a student from another school that he was sitting in the wrong spot. The altercation escalated, leading to Austin being stabbed in the chest.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Karmelo Anthony, who was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Investigators confirmed that Austin did not know his attacker prior to the incident.
A Father’s Anguish
Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, recounted the devastation of losing his son.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” he said.
Rushing to the scene, Jeff found his son gravely wounded and unresponsive.
“I saw him on the gurney, and I could tell… they said he wasn’t breathing. I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was,” he recalled. “I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital.”
A Life Filled with Promise
Austin was a standout student-athlete with a bright future ahead of him. Excelling in both academics and sports, he had been preparing to take the next step toward college.
Just days before his tragic death, he posted a message on X:
“Faith that God got me and my work will pay off.”
A Community in Mourning
As the investigation continues, friends, family, and classmates are left grappling with an unimaginable loss. The tragedy serves as a grim reminder of how quickly violence can shatter young lives.
A vigil is being planned in Austin’s honor as the Frisco community comes together to remember a young man whose future was stolen far too soon.
