Former White House official Keith Boykin said that while Harris chose to be Biden’s vice president, she is in jeopardy of being dragged down by him because the White House lacks a black agenda.
“I think she’s in a bad, bad position,” he said. “I don’t think it’s just a question of messaging. She’s working for an administration that is not aggressively pushing a pro-black agenda, and I don’t think she’s going to be very successful in 2024 or 2028 and in reaching out to black voters if she’s tied to a Biden administration that is incapable of accomplishing anything for black people,” he added.
The comments about Harris’s situation come as polls show her in something of a revival.
Even 2024 betting pools show a surge. Betting aggregator US-Bookies.com, for example, gives Harris the best chance if Biden doesn’t run in 2024. “Though Harris has the best odds to win the next presidential election, Biden is still the favorite to be the Democratic nominee,” said a US-Bookies spokesperson, adding, “This suggests that the odds show more confidence in Harris beating the Republican candidate than they do in Biden.”
But some liberal pollsters are urging a pause. “I think this talk about Harris rising is hand-in-hand with the buzz about Biden’s mental acuity. The Harris talk must be entirely inside the Beltway or at local political meetings and rallies because I am not hearing it nor am I hearing about it — except from intense partisans,” said John Zogby.
Meanwhile, Republicans are warning that Harris is actually the ultraliberal puppeteer in the White House ready to expand policies Biden has imposed if he leaves office early.
Former Trump spokesman Sean Spicer, out this month with a new book about Biden and Harris titled “Radical Nation,” called Harris the “president in waiting.” In his book, excerpts of which were provided to Secrets, he highlighted her efforts to control guns, impose “woke” policies, and let Uncle Sam dictate what “equity” is when it comes to federal spending.
