Hollywood studio LionsGate has brought back mask mandates to select employees due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

In an email obtained by Deadline, the response manager for the movie studio, Sommer McElroy, announced the new policy in an internal memo.

“Employees must wear a medical grade face covering (surgical mask, KN95 or N95) when indoors except when alone in an office with the door closed, actively eating, actively eating, actively drinking at their desk or workstation, or if they are the only individual present in a large open workspace,” he wrote, according to Deadline.

Additionally, the mandate will only affect employees who work on the third and fifth floors of the five story building, according to the email.

The new procedures will now require employees to participate in daily self-screenings. They will also be asked to stay at home if they have symptoms of the virus or if they have traveled internationally in the past 10 days.

Furthermore, the company is bringing back contact-tracing and will provide home test kits to employees if necessary.

The new memo comes after the LA county ended a state of emergency for COVID-19 back in March.

Additionally, the department of public health recently reported an increase in COVID-19 cases. However, the department also emphasized that “overall metrics remain at a low level of concern.”

The CDC reported 10,320 hospital admissions for COVID-19 in the U.S. for the first week of August, which is a 14% increase from the week prior.
