A Pennsylvania cop is being accused of racially profiling a young Black man after videos of their encounter went viral across social media.

The incident took place at G&G Restaurant in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. Police were allegedly called after someone reported that a person was smoking marijuana outside of the establishment. In a video, a white Vandergrift police officer, William Moore, tells Marcus Townsend, a Black man, that he was called because of Townsend. Townsend repeatedly asks Moore what he did wrong, but Moore doesn’t specify why he’s there. Moore orders Townsend to show his ID, which Townsend refuses to do at first. Moore appears to grow impatient and demands Townsend go outside the restaurant.

After Townsend shows the cop his ID, he accuses Moore of racially profiling him. Moore responds by mocking him and telling a colleague to run Townsend’s ID number.

“Run that please because this guy is saying that I’m racial profiling him,” the officer says.

“Oh yeah, ’cause I just don’t like Black people.” Moore continues. “Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t care whether you’re white, brown, or tan.”

In an interview with WTAE, Townsend said that he initially went to the restaurant with his girlfriend and their service dog for breakfast. Townsend alleged that Moore first approached him about the dog, and his girlfriend left with the dog to avoid causing an issue. Then, Townsend said Moore brought up the marijuana call.

In a video showing Moore, Townsend, and another officer outside, Moore is seen asking his colleagues if they found any warrants out for Townsend. He then requests a full criminal history report for Townsend.

Many people online are also accusing Moore of doing his job while drunk, citing his speech and mannerisms.

The Vandergrift Police Department reportedly said that it’s conducting an internal investigation into the incident. Moore is currently on paid leave, according to TribLIVE. Once the review is finished, the town’s council will decide whether Moore will return to his post.

This is not the first time Moore has been removed from the job. According to TribLIVE, he was previously put on paid leave in 2017 after being charged with assaulting and harassing a 14-year-old boy. He was also reportedly suspended in 2018 for unknown reasons.

More than 150 Texas hospital workers resigned or were fired after refusing to get vaccinated

The hospital system had announced on April 1 that employees would need the vaccine or risk losing their jobs.

More than 150 Texas hospital system employees resigned or were fired for not complying with a Houston-based hospital system’s employee COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Houston Methodist, a hospital system in Texas, has fired or accepted the resignation of 153 employees who refused to take the required vaccination shot, spokeswoman Gale Smith told The Washington Post on Tuesday.

The hospital system – which comprises seven community hospitals, a continuing care hospital, several emergency centers and physical therapy clinics throughout the greater Houston area – announced April 1 that staffers would need to be vaccinated to keep their jobs.

A total of 24,947 workers have been vaccinated. On June 7, the organization suspended 178 workers who had failed to vaccinate, giving them an additional two weeks to do so. Smith said 25 had been vaccinated, leaving the 153 workers who recently left.

A former nurse with Houston Methodist, Jennifer Bridges, sued the healthcare providers in early June over the mandate, claiming the inoculation requirement for employees was illegal and turned them into “guinea pigs” for the COVID-19 vaccines.

On June 12, U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes, a Reagan appointee, dismissed the suit, saying the vaccine mandate “is not coercion.” The judge also said “Methodist is trying to do their business of saving lives without giving them the COVID-19 virus. It is a choice made to keep staff, patients, and their families safer.”

McCarthy demands COVID intel be declassified, Americans be allowed to sue China

California Republican also calls for moving 2022 Winter Olympics to punish Beijing.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy demanded Sunday that the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into COVID-19’s origins be declassified and that China’s sovereign immunity be suspended so Americans can have transparency and sue Beijing for reparations for the pandemic’s toll.

“We should lift the sovereign immunity so the 600,000 individuals who died, their families could actually have justice and sue China,” McCarthy told the Fox News show Sunday Night America.

The California Republican called for sweeping measures to punish Beijing and give Americans more transparency into how the pandemic started, including:

Relocating the 2022 Winter Olympics from China. “They should not be held in Beijing. If China lied to the rest of the world, why should the world reward them?”

Declassifying the House Intelligence Committee’s data on where the virus originated from;

Limit the number of visas fo Chinese seeking to visit the United States;

Halt all U.S. funding to the World Health Organization for its failure to more aggressively pressure China to come clean about the virus earlier in the process.

“Think about who had to pay for this,” he said. “Three million and eight hundred thousand people have lost their lives because China lied to the world. Six hundred thousand of those 3.8 million are Americans. And for so long, with social media denying our ability to even talk about it, of where it came from our having from Wuhan and others. The first thing we should do is declassify the intelligence. That would show us it came from Wuhan,.”

McCarthy also criticized President Biden for sending $40 million in fresh monies to WHO with “no strings attached.

“We cannot get to the origin of this by listening to China or the World Health Organization,” he said. “We should declassify the information and find first and foremost where it came from and let the entire world know.”

Scalise: ‘Something wrong’ when terrorists ‘can find America’s southern border’ but Harris can’t

“Come down to our southern border, and look at the debacle that you and President Biden have created and fix it,” said the House minority whip.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said there’s “something wrong” when terror suspects can find their way to the southern border but Vice President Kamala Harris cannot.

He called on Harris to visit the border and see the “debacle” the Biden administration’s policies have created.

Scalise was referring to FBI Director Christopher Wray confirming that two Yemeni individuals on the terror watch list were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“She still hasn’t gone to the border,” the Louisiana Republican said at the Faith and Freedom conference on Friday. “There are people on the terrorist watch list from the Middle East who have roamed across our southern border in the last 6 months. So people on the terrorist watch list can find America’s southern border, and the vice president of the United States can’t. There’s something wrong there. Vice President Harris, come down to our southern border and look at the debacle that you and President Biden have created and fix it. We’ll tell you how to do it.”

Scalise almost lost his life to political violence in 2017, when he was gravely wounded by a leftist gunman who sprayed a congressional Republican baseball practice with semiautomatic weapons fire.

Scalise, who visited the border recently, said border agents told him “the things that Donald Trump did worked.”

“I know the left hates Donald Trump, well, go call it your own wall,” he said. “Call it your own ‘remain in Mexico’ policy. Whatever you want to do. Those things worked. President Trump negotiated an agreement with Mexico to say if you want to seek asylum, stay in Mexico to do it because 95% of the claims are rejected.”

This week, some Republican members of the House called on Biden to remove Harris as the “border czar.”
