In a contentious interview marking his first 100 days back in office, President Donald Trump directly challenged ABC News correspondent Terry Moran, accusing the network of failing to report on President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
When Moran questioned whether America’s global reputation had diminished during Trump’s presidency, Trump responded assertively: “No. I think it’s gone way up. I think we’re a respected country again. We were laughed at all over the world.”
Trump then criticized his predecessor, stating, “We had a president who couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs, couldn’t walk down a flight of stairs, couldn’t walk across the stage without falling. We had a president who was grossly incompetent. You knew it, I knew it, and everybody knew it, but you guys didn’t want to write it because you’re fake news.”
He further targeted ABC News directly, telling Moran, “By the way, ABC is one of the worst. I have to be honest with you.”
The interview also delved into the deportation case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man mistakenly sent to El Salvador. Trump insisted Garcia had “MS-13” tattooed on his knuckles, referencing a photo he shared on social media. Moran countered that the image was digitally altered, a claim supported by reports indicating the photo was doctored to suggest gang affiliation. Despite this, Trump maintained his stance, accusing the media of dishonesty.
This exchange underscores ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and mainstream media outlets, particularly concerning coverage of President Biden’s health and immigration policies. As debates over media bias and political accountability continue, such confrontations highlight the deep divisions in American political discourse.
