Trump says ‘bye-bye Asa’ to Arkansas GOP Hutchison over vetoing transgender bill

Former President Trump on Thursday criticized Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson vetoing a transgender health-care measure and suggested his former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders would do a better job leading the state.

“Asa Hutchinson, the lightweight RINO Governor of Arkansas, just vetoed a Bill that banned the CHEMICAL CASTRATION OF CHILDREN.  ‘Bye-bye Asa,’ that’s the end of him!” Trump said in a statement.

The GOP-led legislature that drafted and passed the measure on Wednesday over-road Hutchinson’s veto.

The Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act attempts to prohibiting anyone under 18 from receiving hormones, puberty blockers, and transition-related surgeries, according to NPR.

Hutchinson has said the bill was well intended but as written was too much of a government overreach for him to sign into law.

In January, Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckakbee, announced her bid to run for governor.

“Fortunately for the Great State of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will do a fantastic job as your next Governor!” Trump said.
