A Georgia mother has filed a lawsuit against Southern Regional Medical Center and Dr. Tracey St. Julian, regarding the alleged decapitation of her baby.

On Wednesday, Jessica Ross, 20, filed a lawsuit against a Georgia hospital claiming that they attempted to keep the baby’s cause of death a secret after he was allegedly decapitated during delivery.

On July 9th, Ross and her boyfriend, Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr., went into the medical center for the delivery of their child.

According to the lawsuit, her doctor “attempted to deliver the baby vaginally using different methods including applying traction to the baby’s head.”

While attempting delivery, “the baby did not properly descend due to shoulder dystocia, ”meaning that the baby’s shoulders had become stuck in the vaginal canal.

According to Ross’ attorney, the doctor “failed to practice in accordance with medical standards.” It was also stated that the doctor “grossly” and “negligently applied excessive traction” on the infant’s head and neck and “failed to perform a Cesarean section in a timely and proper manner, resulting in Treveon Isaiah Taylor Jr. ‘s decapitation and death.”

Lawyers stated that nearly three hours passed before she was taken for the surgical procedure.

According to Attorney Roderick Edmond, the couple allegedly asked for a C-section earlier, when the baby still could have survived, but were denied. They also added that the cesarean section removed the baby’s legs and body, but the head was delivered vaginally.

Southern Regional released a statement allegedly claiming that privacy regulations prevented it from discussing the care of specific patients, but it refutes the accusations. They also stated that they sent “heartfelt thoughts and prayers” for Ross, Taylor, and their caregivers.

“Our commitment is to provide compassionate, quality care to every single patient, and this loss is heartbreaking,” the hospital said.

They continued by stating that St. Julian was not an employee of the hospital, and they had “taken the appropriate steps in response to this unfortunate situation.”

According to Edmond, even though the incident happened on July 9th, the parents were not informed what the cause of death was until July 13th

The Clayton County Police Department posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that the department is investigating the child’s death and its originality.
