Kayleigh McEnany Says She Has Broken Heart Over NYPD Officer’s Ambush Murder: “Just 22 years old”

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany revealed she has a broken heart over the tragic death of a New York City policeman. Officer Jason Rivera was slain and Officer Wilbert Mora was critically injured after walking into an ambush by Lashawn McNeil.

The NYPD received a 911 call from Shirley Sourzes who was having a dispute with her son in a Harlem apartment at 5:09 p.m.“He is threatening to do things to her,” the 911 log said. “He is in the house now.”

The police thought he was unarmed but McNeil opened fire killing Rivera and wounding Mora. “His mental state is very distorted, and that’s all I can say,” said Shirley Sourzes, Lashawn McNeil’s mother. McNeil is in a Harlem hospital after being shot by a third officer.

“This was just not an attack on three brave officers,” New York’s mayor said. “This was an attack on the City of New York” and “an attack on the children and families of this city.”

The NYPD said:

“Tonight, we mourn the loss of a hero officer — a son, husband, and friend. Only 22 years old, Police Officer Jason Rivera was murdered in the line of duty.

“We vow to #NeverForget Jason as his fellow Finest vow to honor his tremendous legacy of service & the ultimate sacrifice.”

McEnany responded saying: “My heart is broken to learn of the murder of NYPD Officer Jason Rivera, just 22 years old.”

“I will be praying for his family and for NYPD Officer Wilbert Mora, who is in critical condition. Please join me in prayer.”

From The New York Post:

Rivera, Mora and a third cop had arrived at 119 West 135th Street’s apartment 1D and spoke to the woman and another one of her sons in the living room before walking down a long narrow hallway to check on McNeil.

The alleged killer then swung the door open and opened fire on the officers, according to previous descriptions. He was shot by the third officer as he tried to flee the apartment and remained in critical condition.

At 6:22, three requests for a “bus,” police jargon for an ambulance, were made over 10-second period. Twenty-one seconds later, the emergency vehicle was en route to 119 West 135th St., according to the log.

A “Level 1 Mobilization … in regards to 3 MOS shot” was requested at 6:24, meaning a deployment of emergency resources were needed for three members of service that had been shot.

Four seconds later, officials clarified that two officers had been shot.
